Our games community has suffered some critical hits this year. Widespread layoffs in the games industry amidst an ongoing mental health crisis mean that many game creators and gamers are struggling.
Chances are, you or someone you know is in need of an assist – whether it be in your job search, dealing with stress, or finding community with other people who love to make or play games.
As six community-based organizations that serve people who make and play games, we are seeing a dramatic surge in demand for our supportive programming. It’s clear that our community needs mental health resources, professional development opportunities, and chances to connect now more than ever. People are playing life on challenge mode right now, but we’re here to help.
Today, we’re announcing the Stronger Together In Games Campaign – benefiting Take This along with Global Game Jam, Game to Grow, International Game Developers Association (IGDA), IGDA Foundation, and Women in Games International. Collectively, we work to ensure that everyone, from developers to players, has the help and resources they need to overcome challenges, at work and at home.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 by Dec 31. We’ve got some help from our friends at Amazon Games, Foundation Law, Google for Games, Modulate, and Sega of America, who have catalyzed a fund to match donations up to $50,000.
We need your help now because more people in gaming need our help than ever before. You can make a huge difference for our nonprofits and the people we support who have been struggling this year. Go to givebutter.com/strongertogetheringames, make a donation, have it matched, and share it with your friends.
Mark your calendars and join us on December 8 for a very special 24-hour livestream event benefiting the Stronger Together In Games campaign! Join GoblinKatie and NihonTiger in this celebration of our community and our work to make it better!
