Gamers – whether in the community or the industry – are a diverse group. However, diversity hasn’t always been in the forefront of people’s awareness, and games have developed a reputation as being exclusionary. Thankfully, more and more people in the community and in the game industry are asking questions about how diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI or DE&I) can impact our mental wellness.

Game Topics

Video and tabletop games are a nuanced and powerful artform. As with any other medium, there are a variety of topics for discussion concerning the intersection of mental health, games, and gamers themselves.

Workplace Topics

The game industry is a wonderful, creative space, but there are also unique challenges which exist. Over the years, Take This has talked extensively about crunch and other workplace challenges, but there are so many more aspects of mental health and working in games with which people may want workshops, lectures or consultation. This includes in a studio, as a content creator, or in esports.

Resilience and Wellness

Too often we talk about mental health in terms of people’s struggles, but there are so many ways that we can maintain or even bolster our mental health. This is actually one of Take This’ favorite set of topics to discuss, and our approach generally focuses on systemic changes which can bolster the resilience of our community and industry, and make workplaces more conducive to wellness.
